Required Supplies
- Baking Soda
- Hydrogen Peroxide
- Plastic Wrap
- Time
The Logic Verdict
Bleach is risky on quartz. It can damage the resin. The “Poultice Method” is safer and deeper.
The Science
Turmeric contains curcumin, which is pH-sensitive and photo-sensitive. It fades in sunlight.
Step-by-Step Removal
- The Paste: Mix baking soda and water (or hydrogen peroxide for white quartz) into a thick paste like peanut butter.
- The Poultice: Slather it over the yellow stain.
- The Seal: Cover with plastic wrap and tape down the edges. This forces the liquid down into the stone’s pores.
- The Wait: Leave it for 24 hours.
- The Reveal: Scrape off the dry paste.
- The Magic Trick: If a yellow shadow remains, open the blinds. Direct sunlight will break down the remaining curcumin molecules within 48 hours.
What NOT To Do
- Do not use abrasive scouring pads (green Scotch-Brite). They will dull the quartz finish forever.
