Required Supplies
- Lemon
- Salt
- Pumice Stone
The Logic Verdict
Acid, not bleach. Bleach sets rust stains. You need an acid to dissolve the iron oxide.
The Fix
- Lemon & Salt: Sprinkle salt on the stain, then squeeze lemon juice over it. Let it sit for 1 hour. Scrub.
- Pumice Stone (Porcelain Only): For a porcelain sink or toilet, wet a pumice stone and gently scrub. Do NOT use on fiberglass or acrylic (it will scratch).
- Commercial Remover: “Iron Out” or “CLR” works best for heavy stains.
