What It Means

The F02 code stands for Long Drain. The pump is running, but water isn’t leaving fast enough.

Common Causes

1. Clogged Coin Trap: Coins, hairpins, pet fur and socks block the filter.
2. Blocked/Kinked Hose: Standpipe clog or hose kink keeps water from leaving.
3. Failed Drain Pump: Pump runs but impeller is cracked or winding burned.
4. Too Many Suds: HE detergent overdose traps air in the pump.

Step-by-Step Fix

1. Power Down: Unplug the washer and turn off water.
2. Open the Filter: Remove the lower kick panel, place towels, and unscrew the pump filter. Remove debris.
3. Check Hoses: Inspect the drain hose and tub-to-pump hose for clogs/kinks.
4. Test the Pump: With the filter reinstalled, run drain/spin. If the pump only hums, it’s bad.
5. Replace Pump: Transfer hoses and wiring to the new pump (WPW10730972 or model equivalent) and reinstall.
6. Prevent Recurrence: Use HE detergent, clean the filter quarterly, and keep the hose looped properly.
