LG Dishwasher Error IE: No Water Fill
IE on LG dishwashers means the tub never fills—open the supply valve, unkink the hose, and clean the inlet screen so water pressure reaches 20–80 PSI.

The Logic Verdict
LG’s training clip for IE shows the control tripping because the tub never fills. The instructor walks technicians through the whole fill path—confirm home pressure is between 20 and 80 PSI, make sure the under-sink valve is all the way open, straighten a kinked hose, and rinse the plastic inlet screen. Once the screen and gasket were cleaned under running water and reinstalled, the dishwasher filled normally and the code cleared.
What It Means
IE is LG’s no water fill alarm. The board energized the inlet valve, but the flow sensor didn’t detect enough water before timeout, so the cycle aborts until the restriction is removed.
Common Causes
- Supply valve partially closed. Someone shut the hot-water stop for plumbing work and never reopened it fully.
- Kinked or crushed supply hose. Tight cabinet cutouts pinch flexible hoses and starve the inlet.
- Clogged inlet filter. Sediment from the plumbing collects on the small plastic screen inside the supply hose fitting.
- Low municipal pressure. Anything under 20 PSI fails LG’s spec and causes repeat IE errors.
Step-by-Step Fix
- Power down and close the valve. Turn the dishwasher off, unplug it if possible, and close the hot-water stop under the sink.
- Check line pressure. Attach a water-pressure gauge to the supply and confirm you’re within 20–80 PSI. Address low pressure before continuing.
- Fully open the valve. Turn the stop counterclockwise until it seats; partial openings restrict flow.
- Inspect the supply hose. Trace the line from valve to dishwasher and straighten any tight bends. Replace the hose if it’s crushed or corroded.
- Clean the inlet filter. Place a towel under the connection, unthread the hose at the dishwasher, and use needle-nose pliers to remove the rubber seal and plastic screen. Rinse both with a soft brush under running water to clear debris.
- Reinstall without over-tightening. Seat the filter and gasket fully, thread the hose on by hand, and snug it—no wrenches—so you don’t crack the fitting.
- Restore water and test. Open the valve, check for leaks, plug the dishwasher in, and start a cycle. You should hear water entering within a few seconds; if IE returns, repeat the pressure and filter checks.
