Frigidaire Oven Error F10: Runaway Temperature
Clear the runaway-temperature code by resetting the control the same way the factory trainer does in the video.

The Logic Verdict
The trainer keeps it simple: hold the Start/Cancel pad for five to six seconds (or the standalone Cancel pad for three seconds) until the control audibly drops out, then let the appliance sit powered off for five full minutes. That soft reset clears the stuck relay logic that makes these controls scream F10 even when the cavity is cool. If you skip the timeout or try to restart immediately, the code usually pops straight back up.
What It Means
F10 is the board yelling “runaway temperature,” but on the Gallery/Professional controls it often just means the keypad never cleared the last command. Power flickers, cancelled cycles, or someone yanking the door open mid-heat can leave the relay latched and fool the board into thinking the oven is over-firing. The video proves the cure is almost always a proper keypad reset plus a cooling period.
Common Causes
- A cycle cancelled mid-stream without holding Start/Cancel long enough—the board keeps the heat relay energized and immediately throws F10 next time you press Start.
- Moisture or steam under the touchpad that makes the cancel membrane stick closed until you reset and dry it out.
- A glitchy control board that never fully power-cycles; if the reset clears the alarm but it returns daily, the relay board is likely on its last legs.
Step-by-Step Fix
- Stop the current cycle exactly like the video. Shut the door, press and hold Start/Cancel for 5–6 seconds (or the dedicated Cancel key for 3 seconds) until you hear the pump/relays wind down and the indicators go dark.
- Let the board rest. Leave the appliance powered off for at least five minutes so the high-limit sensor and main relay cool down; the trainer refuses to skip this wait because it’s what actually collapses the runaway logic.
- Restart cleanly. Close the door, tap Start for one to two seconds, and listen for the normal startup tone. If the keypad feels mushy or unresponsive, repeat the reset and wipe the touchpad dry.
- Observe the next heat cycle. If the oven now heats normally, chalk it up to a software hiccup. If F10 immediately reappears, unplug the unit and ohm the temperature sensor (1 KΩ at ~70 °F) before condemning the control board.
