The Logic Verdict: Leak Detected

The i30 error code is a safety feature. It means the flood switch in the very bottom pan of the dishwasher (underneath the tub) has detected water. When this happens, the dishwasher will automatically turn on the drain pump and refuse to stop until the water is gone, even if the door is open.

Don’t Panic: This doesn’t always mean a catastrophic failure. It could be as simple as:

  1. Oversudsing: You used regular dish soap instead of dishwasher detergent.
  2. A Small Drip: A loose hose clamp or a worn door seal.
  3. Stuck Float: The styrofoam float is just stuck in the “up” position.

Common Causes

Step-by-Step Fix

Step 1: Stop the Beeping & Clear the Water

To stop the pump from running and clear the code, you need to remove the water from the bottom pan.

  1. Kill the Power: Unplug the dishwasher or flip the breaker. The pump will stop.
  2. Access the Pan:
    • Method A (Video Method): Disconnect water/drain lines and pull the dishwasher out from the cabinet. Lift the side insulation to reveal the bottom pan.
    • Method B (Shortcut): Remove the bottom kickplate (toe kick) panel. You can often reach the pan from the front without uninstalling the unit.
  3. Dry the Pan: You will see a metal or plastic pan underneath the mechanical parts. As shown in the video, the styrofoam float is floating on this water, tripping the switch. Use a shop vac or paper towels to suck up all the water.
  4. Reset the Float: Ensure the styrofoam float sits flat on the bottom of the pan.

Step 2: Find the Leak

Once the pan is dry, turn the power back on. The i30 code should be gone. Now you need to find why it leaked.

  1. Run a Cycle: Start a short cycle and watch underneath with a flashlight.
  2. Watch the Valve: Look at the water inlet valve (where the copper/braided line connects). Is it dripping?
  3. Watch the Corners: Look at the bottom corners of the door. Is water escaping past the seal?

Step 3: Replace the Leaking Part

Required Parts:

1. Water Inlet Valve (Most Common Cause) If you see water dripping from the water connection point, this is your culprit. Frigidaire Water Inlet Valve (807047901)

2. Bottom Door Gasket If water is splashing out from the bottom of the door. Frigidaire Bottom Door Gasket (809006501)

Summary

  1. Dry the bottom pan to reset the sensor.
  2. Watch for leaks while running a test cycle.
  3. Replace the valve or gasket that is leaking.
