The Logic Verdict
I watched a Frigidaire Gallery owner chase recurring i10/i20 errors until they pulled the pressure sensor out. The dishwasher kept tripping halfway through cycles, yet the “bad” sensor only looked dirty once it was on the bench. Their $0 Q-tip cleaning fixed three straight cycles, so start with the exact cleaning routine from the video before spending hundreds on a new sensor.
What It Means
Error i10 means the control cannot verify the water level. On these Gallery machines the turbidity/pressure sensor sits behind a side panel; when food sludge clogs the sensing tube, the board thinks the tub is dry and throws both i10 (fill) and i20 (drain) codes even when the plumbing is fine.
Common Causes
- Pressure sensor throat packed with food particles, causing false low-water feedback just like the video demo.
- The rubber seal around the sensor letting debris collect inside the tube after repeated overflows.
- A truly failed pressure sensor (rare)—only replace it if cleaning doesn’t clear the code.
Step-by-Step Fix
- Kill power and pull the dishwasher out. Trip the breaker or unplug the cord, then back out the mounting screws so you can slide the dishwasher forward for side-panel access.
- Expose the pressure sensor. Remove the small side cover (if fitted) to reveal the round snap-in sensor body that sits near the sump.
- Detach the sensor and seal. Pull the sensor straight out of its housing and remove the rubber O-ring so you can reach the internal tube.
- Clean the sensing tube thoroughly. Use cotton swabs/Q-tips exactly like the video—feed them to the bottom of the tube and keep swapping until the swabs come out clean. Expect a surprising amount of greasy debris.
- Reassemble with the clean seal. Reinstall the O-ring, push the sensor back into the port until it clicks, and reconnect any wiring.
- Test multiple cycles. Restore power, run a rinse/light cycle, and confirm two or three uninterrupted runs with no i10/i20 alerts before calling it solved.
