The Logic Verdict
My Take: Luckily, this one comes with an easy fix most of the time. Before you panic, check the easy stuff: is the drain hose kinked? Is the garbage disposal plug removed (if new)? If those are fine, it’s usually a clog at the drain connection or the pump cover inside the sump is loose. Watch the video below if you need help.
What It Means
The E24 code stands for Drain Failure. The dishwasher is trying to pump water out but detects a blockage or resistance.
Common Causes
- Drain Hose Restriction: Often where the hose connects to the sink plumbing (the nipple is small and catches debris like glass).
- Pump Cover Loose: The white plastic cover inside the sump must be snapped in tight, or the pump won’t generate pressure.
- Debris in Pump: Broken glass or seeds blocking the impeller.
Step-by-Step Fix
- Auto Drain Test: Turn on the machine, press Start, then hold Reset (usually 3 seconds). It should jump to “0:01” and try to drain. Listen for the pump.
- Check the Hose Connection: Loosen the clamp where the drain hose meets your sink/disposal. Pull it off and check for debris (glass shards are common here).
- Check the Pump: Remove the filter. Pop off the white pump cover (lift the tab). Clear any debris. Crucial: Snap the cover back in firmly; if it’s loose, E24 will return.
