The Logic Verdict

My Take: I watched the Fix It Guy walk through this repair. He first confirmed the tub filled up to the bottom of the filter (if it doesn’t, solve the water-fill issue before blaming E09). Once he proved the water level was right, he replaced the combined circulation pump + heater from the right side of the machine. If your Bosch fills normally but never heats, go straight to the heat pump assembly—these fail every few years.

What It Means

The E09 code flags a heating failure. Bosch hides the heater inside the circulation pump (part 00753351), so you replace the entire pump module rather than an exposed element. Running with no heat leaves dishes greasy and can eventually trip other errors like E01 or E15.

Common Causes

  1. Burned-out heater inside the 00753351 circulation pump.
  2. Low water level (float switch, kinked supply, clogged inlet) causing the heater to overheat and fail.
  3. Damaged wiring harness or control board solder joints feeding the pump.

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Kill Power & Water: Unplug the dishwasher or open the breaker and shut off the water supply.
  2. Check Fill Level: Run a quick fill to make sure water reaches the bottom of the filter housing. If it doesn’t, fix the water supply before continuing.
  3. Prep the Sump: Remove the filter, then use a turkey baster or towel to remove the cup of standing water so you can tip the unit without spills.
  4. Pull the Dishwasher: Remove the two mounting screws from the counter, slide the unit out, and lay it on its right side for access to the open bottom.
  5. Remove the Old Pump: Loosen the front hose clamp, pop out the rubber grommet, disconnect the drain hose, and unplug the two wire connectors (press the plastic tabs while pulling).
  6. Swap Components: Lube the new grommet with a little water, slide the hoses and the orange vibration damper onto the new pump, and seat the pump into the sump while tightening the worm-gear clamp.
  7. Reassemble & Test: Stand the unit up, reconnect water/power, run a rinse cycle, and confirm the tub now heats and no leaks appear underneath.
